Buffalo Mountain Ranch

Where wide-open spaces bring people closer together.

For more than 50 years, our family has cared for Buffalo Mountain Ranch. Today, groups come here to stay together, share meals, meet, ride, hunt, and enjoy the ranch at their own pace.

  • 4,400+ acres
  • 50 beds
  • Three-building Camp
  • Just 20 minutes outside Abilene

Close to town. Made for time together.

A place to stay together, with room to spread out.

Just 20 minutes outside Abilene, Buffalo Mountain Ranch brings together 50 beds, two kitchens, dedicated dining and meeting spaces, and an outdoor equestrian arena. Surrounding the Camp are more than 4,400 acres of open ranchland, home to bison, elk, whitetail deer, turkey, and more. Your group can feel removed from town without the long drive.

Hunting at Buffalo Mountain

Exceptional hunting, decades in the making.

For roughly 25 years, our family has invested in the careful management of the ranch’s habitat, herds, and genetics. That long-term work has shaped the quality of the animals found here and the hunting experiences Buffalo Mountain offers today.

More than 50 years in the family

The ranch has changed. The connection to the land has not.

Herman J. Ledbetter purchased Buffalo Mountain Ranch in the 1970s and first operated it primarily as a cattle ranch. Roughly 25 years ago, his son, Herman “Jay” Ledbetter Jr., began developing its hunting program.

Today, Jay’s sons, Aaron and Daniel, continue to grow Buffalo Mountain Ranch in new and exciting ways. The ranch now welcomes retreats, private gatherings, equestrian activities, group stays, and exceptional hunts while remaining firmly rooted in the family and land that shaped it.
